When it is offering time in church, listen carefully.  Oh sure, you’ll hear the usual whispers and some shuffling as folks reach

"In God We Trust"

in their pockets and wallets or for the envelopes they prepared ahead of time.  There will be the clink of coins and the rustle of paper money will be all around.

But the sound I’m talking about, the one to really listen for is what you might hear as the money, envelopes and checks fall softly into the offering baskets…do you hear it?

With each coin, dollar, check or envelope, there’s an unspoken echo of a promise.  As the baskets move from person to person, you can almost hear the silent prayer that says: “In God We Trust, In God We Trust, In God We Trust…”

Of course, for most of us it is an act of faith to return to the Lord a portion of His continuing gifts to us.  “So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for awhile down here.” (The Living Bible).

Let’s put both our money and our very lives on the line and enthusiastically say to the Lord: “Yes, Lord, in all things – we trust You!”
