Welcome to Illusion Bird Carving by Terrance L. Weber
(http://www.illusionbirdcarving.com)
I am a carver, painter, writer, inventor. On these pages I'd like to offer you some of my most recent creations. Mostly bird carving but also some of my paintings (just for variety).
WHY DO I PUT MY CARVED BIRDS ON MIRROR?
There was a time in my carving career when all of my carvings were made to be displayed while sitting on a shelf or mantlepiece.
Well, those flat surfaces around my home soon filled up and I needed to find some other way to show off my hand carved creations.
That is when I prayed and asked the Lord to show me some other way of displaying my carvings.
After awhile, and after lots of deep thinking on my part, the Lord gave me the idea, now patent pending, to:
(1) carve my birds with outspread wings.
(2) after carving a flying Mallard, for example, I cut it in half - lengthwise!
(3) Next, I mount half of the Mallard on a framed mirror so it can be hung on a wall - not put on a shelf.
WOW! WHAT AN INTERESTING WAY TO DISPLAY A CARVING!
The interesting result of all of this is that - now - when you look at my carved Mallard-on-a-mirror, guess what! You see the complete bird because the Mallard's "other side" is a reflection (an illusion) of the whole, complete, flying bird!
Amazing! Interesting! Unusual! Best of all: this is a very unique new way to display a carved flying bird! No shelf needed.
What's more, with the mirror mounted Mallard displayed on the wall (not on a shelf), consider this: as you walk around the room, while looking at the Mallard - you have the illusion that the bird is actually, moving, flying! You see, the more you move and change your position, the more the Mallard illusion that you seeseems to change and almost move and fly!
Very interesting to say the least.
Obviously, there is another benefit for me, as the carver and to you as the prospective buyer of my carving:
PRICE IS CUT IN HALF!
Now I can carve one flying bird (a lot of time is required to do that by the way), cut it in half (lengthwise) and have two carvings to sell! What that means to you is that one of my original hand carved mirror mounted flying birds cost you only half as much as a whole bird! In short, you get a very unique carved flying bird for what amounts to half price!
