This came about after my experiences while wearing a partial denture during the 65-plus years after my two front teeth were accidentally knocked out while I was playing catch on my way to school when I was 9 years old. Over the years I was always bothered by the fact that I was the only one of my brothers, sister and classmates that had to wear false teeth. Back then (the late 30s) false teeth were not very well made, and in spite of the wires attached to my other teeth to keep the (Bakelite) denture in place my false teeth were always loose and noisy when I was talking and chewing food.  I remember one time I bit into an apple and my two false front teeth got stuck in the apple.
