I’ve seen football players pass the ball to their teammates;

baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer players all do the same.  In fact, most team sports revolve around the idea of getting the ball and not keeping it but rather, watching what other team mates are doing and when there is an advantage to – pass it on.

 It happens in business too.  There are lots of times a new idea, methods or product comes along, one businessman tells another and soon, just by word of mouth, everyone is making use of the new idea to great advantage, saving money and working smarter simply because we all work together to – pass it on.

 I think it is important for me, as a Christian, as a man of God, to let others know that I depend on Jesus to guide me every day.  I see nothing unusual about saying loud and clear to a teammate or a business associate something like this:

 “As I do this job today, I know I’m going to have to make many decisions that need to be right the first time and I’m going to need God’s help, so – I’ll pause right now, say a prayer and tell my Lord what is happening.  I’ll list the problems and ask God for His guidance”.

 In this way, I’ve invited the Holy Spirit to help me with the problem because – I’ve paused long enough to: pass it on.

 The next step, and this one can take courage when I’m talking to someone outside of my church fellowship, is to add this question: “Will you join me this prayer, right now?”

 Whether he or she agrees or not, my listener is now very much aware that I am a man of faith and that I depend on Jesus to help me. What’s more, he or she also knows I have put clearly, out in the open for all to see, my bedrock faith in Jesus.

 What’s more, by asking my friend to join me in prayer, it’s clearly understood that. concerning my faith, I have also tried to – pass it on.
